Backrow Studios, in partnership with Los Angeles-based companies Level 33, Lighthouse Pictures are excited to announce the global release of their forthcoming film, “Up on the Wooftop.”

The premiere will be Friday, Nov. 13 at Cedar Rapids’ historic Paramount Theatre. The show starts at 7 p.m. The film, which has secured distribution agreements in the United States and internationally in the United Kingdom, Germany and France, will be released to general audiences Nov. 17.

"Backrow Studios is thrilled to have an Iowa premiere at the Cedar Rapids Paramount Theatre, right in the backyard of where we produced our fourth feature film. We can't wait to see the whole community come out to see the film before it hits shelves on November 17th,” said Joe Clarke, co-founder of Backrow Studios and writer/director of “Up on the Wooftop.”
“Up on the Wooftop” stars Hollywood talent Dennis Haskins (Mr. Belding in “Saved by the Bell”), Adam Hicks (“Lemonade Mouth,” “The Boy Next Door,” “Zeke and Luther,” “How to Eat Fried Worms”), Brandon Baker (“Johnny Tsunami,” “The Jungle Book: Mowgli’s Story”) and Preston Lacy (“Jackass”). The film also features professionally trained canine star Sammi Dover as the main character in the film, Toby.

Toby is a smaller-than-average dog who works at the North Pole and dreams of leading Santa's sleigh. After sneaking onto Santa’s sleigh one night during a pre-Christmas test run, Toby is accidentally left behind at the Anderson family home in Iowa. The story follows Toby as he wins the love of his adoptive family, fights to elude a bad-guy mall Santa and his minions, and reignites belief in the magic of the North Pole through his tireless quest to lead Santa’s sleigh. This family friendly film has been approved by the Dove Foundation.

“Up on the Wooftop” demonstrates the many benefits of being an Iowa production. The film is supported by local investors, features shooting locations in Iowa City, Davenport and Solon and also stars local actors.
The November premiere at the Paramount will be an exciting red carpet event for parents and their children. Cast and crew, along with local media personality Scott Sanborn, will be in attendance. Tickets are $15, and are available through the Paramount box office and website,
